Digimon: Rise of a New Threat

Miya licked her lips as Dea screamed in pain.
"Yes... Yes, give in... Let the darkness consume you, let your heart drown in it..." Miya whispered as the Gekomon vacated the room as the lights began to flicker as more and more of the dark liquid replaced Dea's blood. Up to the moment, only a pint of blood had been taken and replaced, but the effects should easily have been felt, from a feeling on uncontrollable rage to even a feeling of domination. Miya only sat back and watched the fun, her eyes glinting mischeviously as the lights dimmed slightly, but did not burn out. Several of the Gekomon peeked back into the room, wondering why their mistress was so interested in corrupting this girl, and for what goal? None of them could even tell, but it most likely had to do with Lord MetalPhantomon's plans for the Digital World.

Crystal sensed a new malevolent presence approaching and quickly shouted a warning to her partner, "Forget him Aero Veedramon, there's something much more dangerous coming through and we need to get away from here now!"

She was right.  When Kuro unleashed his pulse of darkness, Aero Veedramon only barely managed change direction fast enough to maneuver over it.  However, doing so meant that he was forced to release the energy he had been using for his attack as he could no longer make a direct assault on Cerberumon.  Instead, the energy that had been gathered along the edges of his wings shot off in two v-shaped energy blade projectiles that now headed straight towards Kuro and Cerberumon independently of Aero Veedramon himself. The power would be reduced from what it might have been were the energy still physically connected to Aero Veedramon's body, but the blades could still cause quite a bit of damage if they managed to hit either target.

Aero Veedramon, meanwhile, continued to travel upward until he ascended through one of Cerberumon's portals to rise back into the forest.  The wind barrier that surrounded Crystal was lifted out as well as it was obliged to follow Aero Veedramon's will. "That was too close," Aero Veedramon grunted. The wind barrier lowered Crystal onto the back of his neck where she stood on his shoulders and held onto the holy dragon's horns. Aero Veedramon quickly began to travel away from the section of the forest that had been effected by Cerberumon's portals leading into the Dark Area and also away from the dark castle.

"No kidding," Crystal answered with a frown. "I'm beginning to think this is about more than just that Marine Angemon."

After dropping off Razuko, Astamon, and Mikemon on the edge of the forest clearing, the two Gryphonmon returned to the castle so they would be out of the way.  Shortly thereafter, the wriggling mass of the eight-headed snake digimon known as Orochimon emerged and began slithering swiftly toward where Black Gatomon was fighting several digidestined and their digimon with the aid of Blossomon and Devidramon, although it looked like Blossomon was about to be finished off by Flamedramon. Orochimon opted to ignore the flame armored dragon of courage since its attack would have little effect on him and instead took aim at Reptiledramon and Antylamon with two of its heads, the mouths opening to unleash powerful jets of fire at the two digimon. "Inferno Blast!"

"Once Orochimon has their attention, we shall join the battle," Astamon told Mikemon.

Mikemon nodded. "They won't know what hit them."

"Nice work Flamedramon, but now we're going to need Ex Veemon to deal with that Devidramon," Davis told his partner. Flamedramon nodded, reverting back into Veemon so that he could digivolve naturally into his Champion form.



"Vee Laser!" Ex Veemon saw Lunamon become paralyzed by the hypnotic power of Devidramon's Red Eyes and quickly unleashed a powerful energy wave from the x-shaped pattern on his chest to try to blast the dark dragon in the face. Since Devidramon was down on the ground right now its movement would be more sluggish than if it were airborne so Ex Veemon felt like he had a pretty good shot at actually hitting the dark dragon and disrupt his hypnotic attack so that Lunamon could move again. Unfortunately, it looked like Orochimon was going to be a much bigger problem.

After several minutes passed without incident, Crystal reasonably concluded that she and her partner weren't being pursued.  "Well, there's no question about it now.  Those guys must be trying to keep everyone away from the area around that castle," Crystal said to Aero Veedramon.

Aero Veedramon circled above the forest until they were facing toward the castle again.  From their new vantage point they could now see the battle taking place in the forest clearing.  "That doesn't look good," noted Aero Veedramon.  Astamon and Orochimon were both Ultimate level digimon, but Astamon was rumored to be even stronger than most Mega level digimon.  Aero Veedramon had never seen the actual digimon before, but he and Crystal had seen carvings in ancient ruins that depicted him well enough that the holy dragon had no trouble recognizing the Prince of the Dark Area.

"Going over there would be suicidal," Crystal reminded her partner.

"But you want us to go over there anyway, don't you?" Aero Veedramon inquired hopefully.

"Yeah, I know it's stupid, but when someone else is in trouble, I feel like I have to help them," Crystal answered.  "But, before we get ourselves killed, let's make a good show out of it!"

Aero Veedramon gave a toothy grin. "Oh, I was hoping you might say that." Aero Veedramon began speeding toward the forest clearing. As he flew he also started to form the v-shaped energy substance that seemed to connect his horn to the edges of his wings, but as he continued moving ever faster toward the battlefield, the energy he gathered grew and projected outward until it solidified into the shape of a draconic aura lasting right up until Aero Veedramon went into a steep dive to slam the draconic aura down on Orochimon with devastating force. "Dragon Impulse!"

When the dust settled there was nothing left of Orochimon but a smoldering crater. Using that technique had also caused Aero Veedramon to revert back to Snow Agumon, lest he be destroyed by his own powerful energies, but as he and Crystal emerged from the crater they seemed to be more or less unharmed. "Alright, whose next?" Snow Agumon spoke up with a toothy smirk.

Kristoph growled a little when Reptiledramon got hit twice and bonced over to him, reverting back to Dorumon. "Sorry buddy, looks like they just keep coming." He said, helping Dorumon up and patting his back. He looked over at the two new humans who'd come in on their side. "Thanks you two. I'm Kristoph, nice to meet more other humans here." He said as he straightened up, looking at the new boy around their age walking into the clearing. Kris wasn't sure what to make of him, it sounded like he was the one behind all of this, so maybe he could following him back to where Dea was.
