Markus [Estellé] Barret A smile came to Markus’ lips after he received a pat on the back and was told his secret mission would remain that way. Instantly, Markus relaxed considerably as Henry went on to talk about how horrible things were between the soldiers and royals. A chuckle left him as Henry said the soldiers were in way over their heads. Markus knew fully well how horrible the royals could be, especially the prince and princess of the kingdom, but it was still fun to share the pain with others. Markus would never admit it, but it was a bit of relief to step out of the castle for awhile and not think about having to be constantly on guard.
Realizing this, Markus wasn’t sure what to do with himself, but Henry snapped him out of his thinking as he talked about there being a silver lining. As Henry described this good thing to be a blonde, for a moment Markus thought Henry was talking about his, but of course he was wrong. Without meaning to, Markus looked off to the side with disappointment as Henry went on groping the air as if it were Lady Catherine. Markus couldn’t recall a time when Henry wasn’t thinking about doing sexual things to Lady Catherine, and sadly Markus was used to it.
Clearing his throat, Markus crossed his arms over his chest and raised an eyebrow at Henry. “Yes, I’m grateful you're here too…” He commented before looking off to the side. “How are things progressing with the lady, may I ask? Any progress to report to your dear friend?” He asked, knowing that Lady Catherine was a tough lady to flirt with.

It was a swing and a miss that was sure. Her words, she meant as a compliment seemed to offend Catherine instead. She balked startled when the noble woman told her not to presume she knew her, and the threw in her face that she chose this life style. She rubbed her head pinching her nose again in frustration.
"I did not mean to insult you, really it was meant at a compliment. I though, would like to point out that you should not presume to know so much about me either." She looked the noble woman in her eyes. "I am the daughter of peasants, but I too have had my fair share of hard ships." she took a deep breath. She needed to remain rational... not to lash back out at the woman and make matters worse.
"I was born the third child of a poor family. A few years before my mother gave birth to a set of twins. My father did not make enough money to support us. He left, trying to seek the favor of the nearest noble families, hoping that they would take pity and give him work. " She sighed, "Those same nobles, took three years to explain to us that he was dead, three years, and handed my mother a sack of gold coins, because they determined that it was all his life was worth."
Harmony took another deep breath. She felt and her voice starting to crack from the serge of emotions she was feeling. She closed her eyes before taking another breath.
"My family had to find means to provide for itself..." she muttered. "I taught myself to hunt and shoot a bow. I traveled into the nearby forests, because that was the only place that had enough game for me to feed my brothers. But it was the King's forest, and I was caught by a patrol unit. The general caught me red handed as the arrow left my bow and felled a deer. He had every right to kill me, but he gave me a choice. To join the royal army and put my skills to use, or to receive the fate that I deserved."
She shook. It was not her choice to join, but it was what she needed to do to survive and help support her family. She did the best she could with the situation.
"I said what I said before, because those words were the same words that helped me. That is what the general told me one time after I asked him why he spared me." she adjusted the strap against her chest. "I also told you because I thought that you would see their wisdom. You are a bright intelligent woman, stuck in a less than ideal situation. I do not think you to be the same as other nobles, by far you are different. Did you know that I was wondering just an hour ago what would have happened if the noble my father sought was more like you?" She clenched her fist. "I actually thought you were different. You show all the signs of what a noble should be like. I thought here, maybe, you would be willing to use this situation to your advantage and develop the discipline that you already show signs of holding. I thought maybe you would be the first noble in a long time that would help prevent the misuse of power."
She took a deep breath. "I am sorry that I offended you, and if my words offend you more, again I am sorry, but know that the intentions of my words were in no way an insult against you."

Markus [Estellé] Barret Markus found himself a bit surprised by the question he asked being met with a look of disappointment on Henry’s face. He listened as Henry explained the reason for his sour mood when it came to Lady Catherine. The were paired at the beginning, but it seemed the Captain of the fort understood that Henry’s ‘infatuation’ with Catherine would be a potential problem. Markus wished he could run up and hug the Captain for such an amazing decision. If he had to watch Henry everyday creep his way closer and closer to Catherine, then he was sure he would have to disappear completely from the universe. The thought caused a mix of emotions to swirl inside him as Henry went on talking about all the things he would do for his beloved Catherine. Why was it her that he was enthralled with? Was it because she wasn’t an easy woman that wooed at the sight of Henry like most of the other women tended to do? Or were her looks just as alluring as Henry said they were and Markus was just ignorant to her beauty? Markus’ gaze drifted off to the side as he remembered his own appearance. Men and women alike had commented on his own features, but never once did he hear someone call him beautiful. It was always handsome. Although it would be odd for a man to be called beautiful, Markus still longed for the words deep down inside his mind. Markus looked back up at Henry as he began to violate the language with his words of what he would do with Catherine once he caught her. ‘Riding’ her was one of the many acts he would force her to do, and after a certain point Markus found himself bending over and trying not throw up. “Henry, I believe the carriage ride here has left me ill.” He lied as tried to catch his breath. Not wanting to look more like a fool, Markus stood up straight and waved a hand in front of his face to fan himself down. “Could you possibly show me where I could lay down for a moment or two?” He asked Henry as he kept his gaze off the other man. Lena Komarine Lena Komarine rode down the long and windy stretch of road that returned her to Fort Dover, or rather her home, after she had been asked to advise the Captain of the fort closest to it. She had met the other Captain at an event that only a select group of soldiers were asked to attend, and it seemed she made an impression. He asked her in a handwritten letter to come by his fort to advise some of the recent recruits that were brought in. Lena was against it, especially at such a crucial time before the Royal Rangers were being formed, but yet Captain Meinard gave her permission to leave in order to improve relations between the forts. Yes, relations had certainly been improved… Lena thought as she recalled the way in which the Captain of the other fort attempted to subtly seduce her into his bed. Once she caught wind of his true intentions with her, she made him work hard to convince her. In truth, she was more annoyed that she was sent away to fuck a Captain than that she was away from Meinard. Once she back on the Fort Dover’s grounds, she removed herself from the horse she was riding and gave it a pat on the butt to encourage it to go back to the stables. Standing in the Fort made her relax considerably, and she ignored the memories of the week she spent being harassed by a man who only wanted sex. The first thing that Lena saw as she walked further into the Fort were the many royals that had already arrived and were being trained. She observed them all from a distance, pulling off her gloves as she made her way to Meinard’s office to report to him, and she found that each and every one of them was pathetic looking. Even the soldiers training them looked to be either frustrated or annoyed with how things were going. Lena glanced up at the sun and recalled that the royals have only been at the fort for at least a day or two. She looked back over at the group and saw Meinard standing there with a soldier and royal before he turned to leave. Lena stopped in her tracks and watched the Captain, as he gave off an aura that said he was unpleased with many things. It was then that the sounds of groans and muttering caught her ears, and Lena turned her head to see three soldiers holding their arms in pain. She overheard a few of the men talk and say how the Captain was abusing his power before her eyes flicked back to Meinard. It seems the Captain snapped…She found herself disappointed that she had missed such a thing. However, her face did not show it as she smiled and walked over to intercept the Captain. She gave a quick salute before she joined him at his side to walk away with him. “Afternoon, Captain. I’ve come to report that I’m back, and that I’ll have a written report of my involvement in Fort Lussex on your desk tomorrow morning.” She started, not needing to go through formal greetings with the man she knew for over two years now. He was the one man that never flirted with her, and the only man she refused to sleep with just for the hell of it. She respected Meinard more than anyone, and proved it any chance she got. Her eyes found their way behind her as she turned her head to look over her shoulder and back at the group of Royal Rangers. “It seems I missed most of the fun, Captain…” Her eyes then flicked back to the man she admired as she took noticed of his tired eyes and annoyed expression. She wanted to touch his face in that moment, and use her hands to morph a smile on it as if it were clay, but instead she moved her hands behind her back and continued to stroll with him to his office. “If I can be of any assistance with the royals, then I would happily do so. Or perhaps I could be helpful by getting you a drink. No offense Captain, but you look like you just came out from the battlefield as if you lost.” She commented, not very fond of such a thought in regards to the great Captain, but hopefully making the point that he didn’t look great.

Harmony was not expecting an apology from Catherine. She was not expecting the woman to accept any fault on her own part. Harmony knew she had to an extent spoke out of line. But she hated the idea of tip-toeing around people with her words. That is why she tried not to get too close to people, she often put her foot in her mouth before doing anything productive. "This situation is bound to rile anyone up." she conceded. "My self included." It had riled her up. She was constantly being thrown off her game today. She dreaded to think about what it would be like as the days progressed. It was only day two and Captain Meinard Freudenberger snapped. She did not agree with the decision he made but she knew that from it, he was just as frustrated as the rest of them. She looked at the variety of weapons as Catherine seemed to explain what sort of blade she would like to train with. Catherine seemed to have a specific weapon in mind and Harmony thoughts she knew what the young noble was claiming she wanted. She pulled the training model from among the others and held out the weapon to her . "How about trying a Calvary Sword?" she asked believing that this was the blade she was referring to. If her riding was as good as she claimed, She probably would be put in the Calvary, but Harmony also felt a pang of worry. If this woman reacted so negatively to someone's arm being broken, would she be up to fighting another. She did not speak her concerns, she did not want to rock the boat again, the young noble at this point was still willing to work with her and she would rather keep it that way. ______________________________________________________________________________________

Chaos was relieved to hear that the Captain did not remove him from this assignment. However, it did mean another noble was coming to the Fort. Alexander. Another male, not that Chaos minded. He found men and women equally as stunning. Well, as long as they fit what he was looking for. "Yes, sir. Thank you." Chaos spoke a bit shocked to hear that the Captain was just drained. He was no longer amused by any of this. Maybe he shouldn't have had his little outburst. Nope, he should have. The Captain had no right breaking anyones arms! He knew what a broken bone felt like, though an accident, he fell wrong when he was flipped. Though Chaos blamed the Captain it was more on him than anyone else.
"The name is Chaos." He grinned to Elizabeth. He was saddened to know that he shouldn't continue what he had planned on doing the night before, but just knowing that she wanted him was enough to satisfy him for now. He'd figure out a way to sleep with her one way or the other. "Yes, I will show you to the showers." Chaos knew he shouldn't partake in sexual desires, but what if it were all oral? That shouldn't get him into trouble, right? Chaos turned his gaze briefly at Lena. He and Lena went back for a few years now. He liked her, a lot. There were never any strings attached with their relationship and he liked it the way it was. "Follow me, Elizabeth." He smiled gently as he showed her the way to the showers.
Once there, Chaos smirked. "You know, I was told I could not have sex with someone as stunning and beutiful as you are. However, they never said anything about oral. Would you be game for that? Coud always go for the sixty-nine approach." Chaos just never really understood the word 'no'. He hated that word and often sought ways to go around it.
Amelia sat and listened to Thomas tell his take on what was going on. She knew that their kingdom and the other kingdoms truce were often uneasy to say the least. Did the other countries see them as weak? How dare they! "Even I am not foolish enough to wish war on anyone. It's pointless and all the good fashion is often ruined." She shook her head. She sighed and then shrugged. "Fine." She stood up. She did not find any of this Royal Ranger amusing. However, if it meant that war would be avoided she would just tough it out long enough to get back home so she and her brother can live in semi peace again. All she needed in the world was her brother and her fashion. "So, what is it we do now?" She asked her voice still held an annoyance to it, but it wasn't a deathly annoyance either. More like a defeated annoyance. At least for now.

Thomas sighed "I was hoping for a slightly different response but I'll take what I can get." he said evenly, "I only ask that you might learn the burden and ways of a soldier, so that when you someday lead us upon your claiming of power you will be able to efficiently direct us. It will also allow the men you command to place more faith in you" he added in a sincere tone before looking to the open courtyard. "I was thinking we might introduce you to a friend of mine, I think you'll enjoy meeting him." he said a he walked with her to the archery training was set up, "This is my crossbow, it's a simple yet efficient design that anyone can learn to use. Why don't you see how well you can do with it." he added in a pleasant tone before handing the well crafted weapon to her unloaded. "To begin you'll need to load it, take your foot and use you weight to hold the weapon steady like so." he added as he demonstrated with a second crossbow.
After waiting a moment he continued "now pull the bow string back and rest it behind the hook, like so." he said as he pulled the string back and set it in place, "That was the hard part, now you just bring it level and load a bolt like this. Then your ready to fire." he added in the same warm tone. "Just keep the weapon level and just below where you want to hit and pull the trigger, it may take some practice but I think you'll find it quite fun." he said as he demonstrated by taking a shot that hit just below the targets center, "Why don't you give it a try." he added in a encouraging tone.

Lady Catherine did have what seemed to be a vast amount of knowledge. Harmony wondered, before she was forced out into this arrangement how much time the young noble woman had spent reading in the confines of her home. Harmony nodded with the information Catherine presented, agreeing with the majority of it. Harmony fought a stroke of having the young woman explain what she knew of most the weapons before them, knowing that it was a silly desire to test how much regarding weaponry she might have studied. Knowledge and experience were both important things to have.
Teaching Catherine to use the Saber would present a challenge, since she had little knowledge about blades in general. Her weapon of choice was the bow she carried, she excelled with her hunting knifes and she could hold her own with a long sword. The particular weapon, Catherine held now, she had little to no experience with. Though she was not completely inept. She knew in a well trained hand, the weapon was as powerful as Catherine had mentioned and had watched other soldiers train with the blade themselves. It was also a wise choice for the fact that it was the right weight for to start with.
"Lady Catherine, if this is the weapon you chose, then I will gladly do my best to teach you." Harmony spoke those words with pride. She would do her best, that was a fact, and she would hold up her end of the bargain. Even if that meant at some point requesting help from another Soldier who had more knowledge on the blade. But for now, Harmony was sure that between her and the young noble they would make do for the time being. "Though I wish you to know, In order to allow you to gain the best experience with this blade, I will probably have to seek the advisement of others." She had spoken calmly, while she did not like to admit her faults Harmony knew that she could not lie to the noble woman and live up to the expectations of the level of work she had made herself known to work for.
She sighed and picked another similar blade for herself. "I am sure you have also gathered knowledge on the drills?" she spoke keeping the calmness to her voice and started with the knowledge with what she did know. "When cutting, the movement must be made with a straight arm, originating from the wrist or shoulder that you do not allow your elbow and forearm to become exposed. And the movements must be quick and snappy." She demonstrated, she learned at least this much before she had decided that the saber was not the right weapon for her.

"You take whatever I give you." Amelia spoke as if to try to still gain the upper hand in this whole situation. She knew Thomas was trying to be nice and just 'do his job'. It was just that she didn't want to be here. With that kind of attitude she probably wasn't going to do the best. However, her brother was right. If they did this and put up with it, the sooner they would get out of here. She liked that idea.
Amelia folloed Thomas and arched a brow when he showed her a crossbow. She wasn't given much of a choice so she picked it up and followed as she was instructed. She stumbled a little and things took a bit longer for her, but she did manage to load the crossbow. Amelia watched Thomas fire his and hit the target. She wasn't impressed mainly for the fact she had seen archers train and always hit their mark too. Perhaps she was going in this over confident thinking she'd hit the mark easily. She aimed and fired, but the arrow completely missed the target and hit a training dumby instead, in the right shoulder. Amelia just stood there, shocked that she had missed the target. However, she was going to play off that she was aiming for the dumby instead. "I hit that dumby, it was easy." She looked up at Thomas hoping he wouldn't see through her little ploy.

Thomas chuckled "So I see." he said in an amused tone knowing she was putting up a strong front, "Though the goal is hitting the target, hitting an enemy in the shoulder will not stop him. It will only make him very annoyed." he added in an even tone allowing her to believe she had fooled him. "Try again, in time you will be able to load and fire in your sleep. I'll tell you what, hit the center of the target before we finish our afternoon training session and I'll arrange for better sleeping quarters." he said in a sincere tone, "I may even be able to locate a small bottle of good wine as well, Now then let's keep working on your aim." he added with a nod. "Just relax and focus solely on the weapon, you'll find it becomes a familiar friend in no time. Just follow the steps one after another and you'll get the hang of it." he said with a confidant smile.
As Lady Amelia continued to practice he looked about the field at the rest of the pairings, it seems the captains effort had helped. Gone was most of the fighting and yelling that rang about the courtyard this morning, perhaps this fools endeavor wasn't quite so foolish after all. As he looked back towards Lady Amelia ha found himself somewhat intrigued by her, was it her stubbornness that matched his own or just the challenge she was giving him. Lady Amelia you are indeed a unique one, I wonder what lies beneath that royal front you hide behind he thought to himself as he glanced back to her.

Amelia arched a brow surprised he did not just call her out. What he said though did make sense. Shooting an arrow in a soldiers shoulder would only slow them down for a moment and enrage them. Then, he said something she did not believe was possible. He would arrange for a better sleeping arrangement if she hit the center of th target. That should be easy enough, right? Whether it would be easy or not, she had to hit the center. She didn't want to sleep with the others if it could be helped. Then, she heard about the wine. She had never had wine before, but was interested in trying some. Yes, she would hit the center mark.
Amelia loaded the crossbow once more and shot again. This time she hit the target, but the upper left corner. It was a start. Another ten or so shots later she was starting to manage to hit the outer circle. She was getting rather annoyed at this. This may not be her 'job' but she had to do it and damn it did she want to to get rewarded. It was some many shots later until the perfect arrow flew hitting the center of the target. Amelia's eyes widen as she grinned. She dropped the crossbow as she jumped up and down. "I did it! I did it!" She then turned to Thomas with a grin held on her lips as she placed a hand on her hip. "Of course I did it. Why wouldn't I?" She tried to act 'cool and collective' but she really was excited that she had done such a thing. It might have seemed minior for most, but for her she had never done anything of this sort.

Thomas nodded with a proud smile "Very good, as I promised you I will arrange for better quarters and a small bottle of wine." he said evenly, "How did it feel to succeed at something you've never done before, Good I imagine. I can tell you became more comfortable with the crossbow towards the end, I'm hoping you'll be willing to continue with such small victories as we continue to work together." he added as he picked the crossbow up off the ground. "Why don't you hold onto this, the more you work with an individual weapon the more it becomes an extension of your self." he said as he held out the crossbow for her to take, "Use the sling to carry it over your shoulder." he added in an even tone.

Amelia smirked as she was still quite proud of herself. She couldn't wait to have a better quarter and hopefully away from the others. She could hope. At least anything would be better than sharing her room with everyone else. Then it was the wine, she was looking forward to sipping her first alcoholic beverage. "It did feel good. Especially since I'm getting something out of it." She smiled. Though she arched her brow a bit when he considered this a small victory. Perhaps it was, but at the same time she wasn't sure she enjoyed that thought. It meant that she was being 'submissive' and she didn't like that idea. Like hell she'd be submissive. Once more, Amelia arched her brow and shook her head. "I'm fine with using the same crossbow over and over to make it feel like mine. I get that. However, I don't exactly want to be lugging it around all over the place." She didn't carry much around unless it was her accessories for her outfit. She thought a bit more though and perhaps if she thought if it that way, it might not be so bad. All right, this was her current outfit, a soldiers outfit. Disgusting as it may be, the crossbow would make it look a little better. Perhaps she could personalize the crossbow. "Never mind." She shook her head as she took the crossbow and used the sling to carry the crossbow on her back. "So what now? I think I've been a rather good girl that we could take a bit of a break, can't we?"

With a agreeing nod Thomas smiled "I don't see that as being a problem, you've made a great deal of progress today so a break is not out of the question." he said as she slung the crossbow over her shoulder, "It's more than a bit warm today so some water will do both of us good, lack of hydration will kill you just as quick as any sword or arrow after all." he added as he turned and began to show Amelia to where the well was. As he scooped a cup full out of the well he paused and looked towards Amelia "Here you go my Lady." he said as he handed her the cup, "Don't drink it to fast or you can make yourself sick, sip it slowly." he added in a quiet tone.
"While we're taking a short rest did you have any questions you wanted answered?" he asked as he motioned to a rough stone seat, "I'm far from all knowing but I'll explain as best I can, If I have the knowledge to." he added as he pulled a cup for himself. "Surely there is something you may want to ask." he said as he sat down himself.
