Lloyd tilted his head as he thought about what Caitlyn said. "Yea, you're right. One should be able to protect themselves when it comes down to it. I'm glad you're learning things though." Lloyd smiled, if anything he was just happy to hear that she loved her father. He still hoped that the two of them had gotten over their argument or whatever it was they were upset with each other about. He knew they were probably going to be gone for awhile and he wouldn't get an update on that anytime soon. Still, just hearing this made him happy for her.
Lloyd's mind started to drift, as usual. He was imagining what it would be like to be able to summon any great spirit like Caitlyn could. In his mind he was basically summoning up a creature that was going 'pew pew' over and over against a great evil. "Huh," He didn't mean to say anything but he had only heard bits and pieces of what she had said and he was trying to recall what she did say. Or what he did hear. "I guess I kind of thought you where the one that accepted the contract fully. Still I wish I could do that. Oh hey aren't contracts like friends too?"
"Oh...fertile huh..."Lloyd knew at that point that there was no way now that he was going to sleep with a mermaid. He didn't exactly what a child, especially while they are on this adventure. "Hm, guess that means they have a lot of mer-folk then. If they have a fish body how do they...you know do it? How do they have kids?" Lloyd was curious over the most weird things that he could come by. He honestly had no idea how fish even mated and didn't think that they both mate like fish. "Well I'm sure we'll be able to get their attention. Oh, maybe I have an idea for them. My parents have this trident that has been in the family generations for a long time. They say it came from a merman. I'm not sure though. It's called Neptune's Trident."
Lloyd pouted, curling his lip up a bit hearing that he couldn't ask Gol to come to town. "I'll go visit Gol later then. Make sure he's doing all right." Lloyd smiled as he figured he'd pack a lunch and over it to the golem, not knowing that golems didn't eat human food. They ate rocks and minerals.

Caitlyn didn't fail to notice that she had lost Lloyd somewhere in her attempts to explain what she was learning. While she knew the it was becoming typical Lloyd, the idea that what she had to say couldn't keep his attention was a little heart breaking for her. The emotions were stupid on her part, but Caitlyn was not one whom tried to share info. Especially about her abilities, and this was a bit of a blow to her. Lloyd though it was wam-bam-done, and Caitlyn was learning how much mechanics were really involved in it. She kept explaining, though hoping some information would stick. But she had a feeling that Lloyd would not really care unless there was fighting, sex, or booze involved. It was a shame too, Caitlyn believed him to be fairly intelligent if he put his mind to it. She kept explaining and then he asked a question that really struck her. There were indeed brains after all. " Contracts can be made on either end. The beings that I have bonded with, they're old enough to know to manipulate the magic that I don't understand to help me succeed. Luckily my contracts are all benevolent, but I could have had some major problems if that wasn't the case. I could have ended up in a lot of trouble, if I was lucky, or dead if not." She didn't know if he caught what she said or understood. She noticed that once again, she had lost Lloyd, He was now lost in the concept of Merfolk reproduction. Asking slews of questions that Caitlyn had no idea how to answer even if she could. Sure enough, she was given proof that Lloyd has a one track mind. Though she noticed that he did have a sense of reluctance when she mentioned their fertility. " Uh....Uhm... I really don't know..." She muttered and looked at him. " You know, the whole hatred thing, makes knowledge on that matter limited. Orghan might have information about that." She started looking through the books. " But we would need to look in the older sections." Mermaid Sex...of all the things he would be interested in... Caitlyn chided, as she started looking through the books. It was something that Caitlyn honestly didn't want to know. Inter-species sex, was not her area of interest. And talking sex in general was something she deemed a taboo subject with Lloyd. She found a couple books for him, and was about to hand them to him when he mentioned the trident. The books tumbled from her arms. " The Neptune's Trident?" She muttered looking at him. " You're parent's have Neptune's Trident? I've been sitting here trying to figure out ways that we won't die and your parent's have the trident." Caitlyn knelt down to pick up the books as she stared at him dumbfounded. She had been studying her magic, yes, but her brain had been working on this in the background and it had been making her twice as nervous this morning.

Lloyd listened to Caitlyn explain a bit more on contracts. He didn't like the idea that contracts could cause such problems for her. There was no way he'd allow anything bad to happen to her, not while he could help it. "Contracts can be a bit confusing, huh? I'm glad too that your contracts have all been good so far. Though...is there a large chance of you making a contract that could go wrong?"
"Maybe I should ask Orghan later about the merfolk. It's a shame we don't know more about them. I'm sure they have some amazing stories and knowledge to share with us." Lloyd grinned. Of course he was talking about learning how they had sex along with any stories as well. He loved hearing adventure stories and they only aided him in creating stories himself to share when he was at the taverns.
Lloyd tilted his head when she gave him a look. He didn't quite understand what the big deal was. The information about the trident didn't come off too much of a shock for him, but apparently he should have shared it earlier. "Do you think if we get the trident, we could talk with the merfolk peacefully?" Lloyd knew the history between merfolk and the humans, but he didn't really think about it. The humans stole one of the most prized items from the merfolk and he acted like it was no big deal to return it. "Though, getting the trident could be a bit difficult." Lloyd frowned. "I mean, my parents if they catch me grabbing it, there's no way they'd let me out again. No matter what I say." He sighed.
Alan sighed, he had been listening in with what Lloyd and Caitlyn where talking about. Even with his head hurting as much as it was. He rubbed the back of his head as he slowly stood up and walked over to the two. "Then I'll go, Lloyd. I can get in and get out with the trident without your parents knowing. I've done shit like this before and I can do it again." He mumbled his words due to the fact he was still feeling a bit ill. "Draw up a map of your parents place and where the trident is." Alan was already figuring he'd find a guard, knock them out, put their outfit on and go to the room with the trident. It shouldn't be too hard. He wouldn't be able to leave until tomorrow though when his head cleared up a bit more. He was also trying to figure out how long it would take him to get back. The distance and everything. He'd be about a week and that was with little stopping. Distance was not his friend right now, but he was sure he could get to the capital in two, maybe three days on horse. Then spend a day to get the trident, not even, do a quick resupply, and head back out.

He was sorta listening, Caitlyn had to give him props. " It depends on what I might have run into. Hubert... He was an iffy one himself. " But dragons were. They were neither good nor bad, but followed their own set of rules. When she wandered across him years ago, Hubert was toying with her. She still wasn't sure if she would have survived that encounter, she doubted Hubert knew as well, if it wasn't for the fact that she was a summoner. But Hubert served more as a mentor, and friend, over the years, and she grew comfortable with his presence. " Well, in theory that is how it's supposed to be, I control it... except I didn't know how. My magics are strong, but think of it like this Lloyd...." She paused tucking her hair behind her ear. " Let's pretend you don't know how to use a sword. You are given a sword, that does the work for you. Sure, maybe against a majority of others you fight, you will do alright. The abilities granted ensure that, but one day you come across a man with years of training and experience. He's spend his life training, fighting, and honing his skills. Magic sword or not, that man would hold the advantage and easily over power you. " Lloyd... Loyd struck her again with the next question he asked. The trident if played right, would be more than enough for them to communicate with the Merfolk. " Lloyd, that trident is the cause of hostilities between humans and Merfolk. That's basic knowledge. You are royal decendant, I know you were educated more than that, Where did all that knowledge from your lessons go?" Caitlyn was sure at that point, if anyone could win an award for the most selective memory, Lloyd would take the cake. What Alan proposed was a good Idea, in theory. But how was Caitlyn sure she could trust him. But it was the best idea they had, Alan was the only one that could plausibly get within ten miles of their home town and not be found and detained. It wouldn't be a quick trip, he would have to act with care, and do what ever thieves had to do to secure their catch. Caitlyn sighed sat back down in her chair and looked at both men. Neither seemed to be too happy with the idea. " We don't have much of a choice do we?" She asked knowing that if they had any chance for survival, it would be with the Trident. She spoke from her point of view, but she didn't expect Lloyd to be as tolerant with the idea. It seemed Alan already had a plan figured out. Even in his hung over state she noticed a sense of confidence from him. " You should go, when you feel better. I'll stay and keep researching, I won't gather as much attention as Lloyd if I returned home, but even I know that there will be people looking for me...."

Lloyd listened to Caitlyn, trying to see her point about explaining things. He could. Though now he wondered if there truly was a magic sword out there. If there was one, could it shoot flames from it? Oh how great that would be! Lloyd might have given himself away with his little daydreaming from smiling during half way through her explanation. He came back to reality when she spoke about the trident. "Well, yea I guess it is basic knowledge, but there's no point in me having to remember something like that since, well I never thought I'd have to use something like that." Lloyd chuckled. Lloyd frowned when it seemed Caitlyn was agreeing to Alan's plan. He wanted to go, but the attention he would get if he did go back. Lloyd sighed and agreed to letting Alan go.
The next morning, Alan headed out early. Gol tagged along with him as Alan rode his horse. Alan figured if anything, if he got into trouble, Gol would be able to help him get out of it. Though he doubted he'd get caught. He reached the capital a few days later. Finding a guard though, well that took a bit more time. They, the guards, kept to groups at the moment. Alan followed one to the tavern though, that was stupid enough to go in his uniform alone. Alan called the guard away down an alley. Then, he struck. He knocked the guard out, took the uniform, tied the guard up, and hid him in an abondoned building.
Alan looked through the layout of Lloyd's home, making sure that he had memorized the map Lloyd gave him correctly. He waited a day before he decided to go for the trident. The room was guarded, that sucked. Alan had to knock out another guard when it was time to switch guards that stood on duty at the treasure door. This was getting a bit tricky. Alan managed to get into the room. Shortly finding the trident and taking it. However, he was found out when he was trying to leave. This wasn't good, the story he tried to give was not working. Instead, Alan called for Gol whom attacked one of the walls, busting it. Alan took off with Gol behind him. He had no time to go back to the first guard he had tied up. He'd just have to hope that he didn't die before someone found him.
Alan was running a day and a half later than he had planned. He hoped Lloyd and Caitlyn wouldn't worry too much. Alan left Gol in the forest again as he returned back to Orghan's home. "Hey, miss me?" He smirked as he held out the trident. "Damn thing was a bit more trickier to get, but I got it." It was clear that Alan was quite proud of himself. This was one fo the more riskier stunts he had tried to pull off and he was just excited it worked.

Caitlyn Wallace noble of little rank
Caitlyn had spent the days buried in books, only being pulled away for the occasional bathroom break or meal. Even still she didn't lose track of time. She was a little worried when Alan hadn't have returned back by the time he originally had said. She jerked her head up when she heard him almost two days later, when he walked in with pride holding the Trident up. Relief flooded her system. "You got it!" She cried, standing up and rushing to his side. She could resist looking the trident over. He came back! We have the Trident! Caitlyn was so relieved she turn and hugged Alan. The little Thief made their life a whole lot safer! It was a rare display of affection for Caitlyn but she couldn't resist it. She half expected him to run off with the treasure never to be seen again. Realizing it was Alan she hugged she backed off. "Sorry, I'm just relieved. I wasn't sure if you were coming back or not..." she muttered. It was harsh but the truth and she didn't want Alan getting the wrong idea. She hoped that no one else had seen her actions.

Alan nearly fell backwards in disbelief when Caitlyn had hugged him. He couldn't help but speak up, even after she apologized. "Aw, didn't know ya missed me that much. And what's with you thinking I wouldn't return? I ran into a small hic-cup so it took some extra time." Honestly, he couldn't blame her for thinking he'd run off, still he didn't understand, why that hurt. It wasn't like he'd call these two his friends or anything of that sort. Having friends where a weakness unless you where using them. His overall plan though was to still use them. He could get all the fragments himself, sell them, and live like a king, that's what he wanted. Respect and power.
"Glad to see you're back in one piece." Lloyd grinned as he walked over and had also joined in on the hug before the hug disburse. "And of course you'd return! We're a team."
A week later, the group had reached the shores where the mermaids lived.
"Ah, there you three are." Sen appeared before the small group with a cocky grin on his face. "I think you have something that belongs to me. The Earth shard. Hand it over," Sen opened the palm of his hand motioning for them to give it to him. "I might just let you all live if you do. Or, if you prefer, we can go about this, my way, by playing a little game of mine." He gazed at the three of them, that is until Lloyd spoke up.
"No. We got the shard fair and square. Whatever game you want to play, we'll beat you at it. Why don't you just give up on this idea of yours and we can all just go on living in peace." Lloyd had moved a few steps ahead of his friends. He wasn't going to let any harm come to them. His hand was above the hilt of his sword, ready to draw if need be.
"Foolish as always." Sen had been learning about the three of them. Ever since a source of his told him that the Earth Shard was found and taken. He had sent shadows to hunt them down and learn about who they are. What he had learned was Lloyd was a foolish noble, but had no intentions of ever giving up this quest. There was the mage, Caitlyn, who wanted peace, but didn't fully trust the group she was in. Then, there was Alan, someone that Sen could use against the group.
With a wave of a hand, the three heroes where wrapped around a dark, clouded bubble, each in their own. This would be a trail for them. Each facing what could potentially stop them and give up on this quest.
Alan looked around, and though in reality he was in a bubble, it did not appear that way at all. He was on a cliff with just himself and Sen. "Huh...what did you do with the others!?" Alan took a step back from Sen and readied himself a battle or perhaps flee. When Sen told Alan that he could give Alan everything he wanted and then some, without putting his life in danger, Alan started to question that. Perhaps it wouldn't be so bad to switch sides. After all, Sen was giving him an easy out. And it wasn't like he owed Lloyd or Caitlyn anything. ...
Lloyd saw his parents. His mother hugging him, crying. Begging him not to leave her again. "Mother..." Lloyd frowned. "I'm sorry, but I cannot just stay here. I love you guys, you know that. Nothing will change on that, but I cannot just stand by and watch the world crumble. Not even if the two of you ask me to stay, I can't. I'm sorry." Lloyd backed away from his mother's hug. "I'll be back when the world is safe. Just wait for me." Lloyd smiled as his clouded bubble started to clear and he was brought back to reality, the bubble burst. "Just a dream..." Lloyd frowned slightly but then turned to panic. He saw two bubbles. "Alan! Caitlyn!" He ran up to one bubble and started to bang on it, unable to pierce through. "Can you guys hear me?"
"Oh, Lloyd, they can't. They have to find a way out on their own. Nothing you say or do will get through to them. Even if I where to vanish they would stay in their world. I must say I'm a bit shocked that you left yours so quickly. I thought for sure your parents would be what kept you. Maybe you truly don't love them as much as you say you do." Sen smirked.
"The hell with you! I love this world much more than I could love them, and they will understand that! If this world dies...so do they. So does everything they love. I will fight for them, for my friends, for the world to keep you from destroying it!" Lloyd took his blade out and charged at Sen, who just vanished before him and appeared elsewhere.
"Foolishness will get you killed, Lloyd." Sen watched him.
"If I side with you, can you promise me that my grandfather, Lloyd, and Caitlyn will all be safe?" Alan looked at Sen back in his bubble. That Sen told him he would promise, just he'd have to do one thing. Find a way to sneak away from the group after they got the Water Shard and then come find Sen. "Done. I will bring both the Earth and Water shards to you." Alan's bubble then cleared as he looked over at Lloyd and then to Sen. There seemed to be an unspoken agreement between the real Sen and Alan. "Ya know, I'm usually the one that plays all the tricks on others. I don't appreciate being tricked." Alan glared at Sen if only to keep his secret safe.

Caitlyn Wallace noble of little rank
They had prepared to set off a week later, something Caitlyn at first was okay with. They had almost made it to the Mermaid's cove and then they reached their road block. Caitlyn stood terrified when they ran into Sen. How did he find them? They were supposedly being careful. She winced, did they spend to long at Orghan's. Was the Dwarf alright? Lloyd took the reigns. She bit her lip and decided it was best not to draw attention to herself. Not unless she needed too. Her plan didn't go so well as she found herself surrounded by the bubble. Her skin tingled against the hum of his magic and she could not resist what ever spell she had cast. Caitlyn sat in her spot at Millie's bar. She paused and blinked, when did I? There was a stranger nearby telling her about a journey that he had been on. She listened. It seemed so familiar... there was the noble, the thief, dwarves and a rock man... Wait wasn't she just... she blinked. No... she had been in the tavern, sitting with Millie. She felt a hum against her skin. Magic... She looked to the story teller. Maybe he was a story weaver... It might explain why she was so confused. She went to check her link with Hubert, she was shocked when he seemed agitated and distant. Had I just fallen under his spell? she asked herself. Caitlyn was one to admit that her magical defenses needed work. I need to be a little more careful. I am sorry Hubert, if that worried you. She sipped the mug of ale that Millie had just brought her. Millie gave her a thumbs up and disappeared into the kitchen. The traveler continued to talk until the story ended, and then he paused and looked Caitlyn over. " What are you?" He asked after a moment. " I can sense you have your own gift... it's strong." Caitlyn looked at him shocked a moment before smiling. " That's not something I wish to talk about." She responds. " I enjoy listening to your stories, do you have another one to tell?" The traveler grumbled something she couldn't understand and she just smiled. He rubbed a hand through his hair and smiled at her. " I don't wanna talk more about me," He responded. " I wanted to talk about you... find out what I can... you might be a perfect addition to our group. We can use another skilled magic user." His words faded off a bit and he blushed. " It seems you would be nice to be around too." At his words Caitlyn observed him look her over, and was confused at her own reaction when a blush creeped over her cheeks. Her mind screamed she needed to shut this down quick. She was not some easy going girl, why was her body responding this way. She heard banging... it made her head hurt. Her magic zinged. Hubert was Angrier. She reached out mentally to appease him and hit what felt like glass. Her heart fell into the pit of her stomach. She couldn't hear his thoughts, she could always hear his thoughts. Hubert! She smiled at the magic user. "Excuse me." She muttered and stood up alarmed. She ran into the kitchen and huddled in a quiet corner trying to connect to her dragon. Why couldn't she hear him. The thought scared her. " Hubert! Hubert Please!" She cried out when her magic was grasping at straws. She was not surprised when Millie came running. "Cat!" Millie called out and grabbed her shoulder. Caitlyn looked up. " Why did you run away! he was offering you the chance of a lifetime!" Millie smiled. He's cute and he really likes you. He says he likes your energy signature as well... " And why are you thinking about them!? I thought you were over both Hubert and that asshole Lloyd!" " Why would I be over Hubert? Why would he leave? He the one that..." Caitlyn blinked confused... he wasn't gone... she still felt him. He was angry and focusing on something... She couldn't hear him, but he was there. " Because he was an ass and didn't accept your magic." Millie responded assured. " He wasn't worth your time." " Hubert.... not accepting my magic...?" Caitlyn laughed. her reaction shocked her. It shocked Millie as well. But she realized it gave the dragon the footing he needed Hubert roared triumphantly in her mind. "Why would Hubert not accept my magic?!"Fool. When we are done here, YOU AND I are going to work on your spell defense. Caitlyn blinked. I am under a spell? "I don't care. You have the chance of a lifetime! Forget about Hubert and Lloyd! They'll just hurt you!" Millie looked at Caitlyn with a concerned expression. "The traveler didn't care that you could use magic. He's uses it too. You don't fit in with non-magic users like them. He likes you and from what I could see you liked him too." Are you under a spell? Hubert laughs annoyed. Stupid girl, can you really not tell? I have half the mind to fly there and never let your sorry ass see the light of day again. But we need to get you from this mess first, can you fix it or should I? I knew it was a bad idea leaving you in the care of that thief and fool. Caitlyn sighed. I noticed magic was being used. I just mistook how... Caitlyn saw now... Him referring to Lloyd and Alan cleared up the spell in her head. Not good enough. You woke up on the wrong side of the bed today. Of course, my mage was in trouble. Awww... you do have a heart. Shut up and fix this!Caitlyn sighed. " Millie, why would I go on his, when I have my own." She asked and turned to Millie as her appearance distorted and changed to Sen. " You are picking the wrong side. They will turn on you like all the others." He spoke. Caitlyn winced, his word hurt. " I know your pain. I am trying to ensure that no one else feels the same way..." He added. Caitlyn looked at her feet. Hubert growled. His anger permeated through their bond and bled into her own. " You work with them, but you know they won't help you. You know the first chance you aren't needed anymore they'll toss you aside. You are a magic user, dangerous to be around." " It's my pain, I will handle it. Harming other's just proved they are right." She stood surprised the words came from her mouth. She blinked. Hubert had dug them out of the deep recesses in her mind. She felt the spell collapse around her. Hubert's energy was stronger than she was use to. It took her a moment but she realized he was much closer now than she ever wanted him to be as well. Hubert, no further! I don't want you close enough for him to sense you! She reached out mentally. She saw both Lloyd and Alan also stood ready. We can fight should we need to... The noble and thief have beat any spells thrown at them. Caitlyn didn't want to fight. But she would should she need to. If she died, that would be one less summoner for him to get his way. She gripped her staff and her heart felt heavy. Sen's words struck hard and she knew she had to bear them... at least for now. She watched her people and she watched Sen, waiting to see where this would go.

Sen looked at the three of them. He was shocked that Caitlyn did not see his way in her little bubble he created. It was perfect, flawless. Her own personal perfect world and he could give that to her. Not Lloyd, not Alan, not any non magic user. One thing that was good, was that Alan was going to be useable. He could shape Alan and control him. He would see Alan soon enough. In the mean time he would have to come up with the perfect way of purely controlling Alan. Sen slowly smirked as he kept looking a the three of them. "You three really think that you can stop me, don't you? It's amusing, and I want to see how far you three really think you can get." Sen started to chuckle. Besides, they were gathering the fragments which would make it easier on him. "I know what you have, but for now, I'll continue gathering the fragments and watching you three from afar. You have my promise, we will meet again and at that time, it will be our final meeting." With that, Sen disappeared in a cloud of smoke.
Lloyd gritted his teeth as he watched Sen disappear, but then he grinned and laughed a bit. "That's one victory for us!" Only Lloyd would consider this a victory for them. They could have eaisly been destroyed by magic during their encounters in their bubbles. He looked over at Caitlyn and went over to her, checking her out to make sure she was all right. "Good, it looks like you're unharmed." He gave his typical Lloyd smile. "Come on, we have some mermaids to talk to." It was as if he was going to completely forget about this incident.
Alan tilted his head, in disbelief how Lloyd was acting. He gave a sigh as he thought about the deal he made with Sen. It wasn't like he could ignore the deal. He wanted those close to him safe. This was the easiest way. Perhaps he'd be able to convince Sen as well to aim for a better 'ideal world', than the one he was wishing. That, or perhaps he would be able to steal the fragments from Sen and he could be the hero and live like a king. "Lloyd, I wouldn't exactly call this a victory for us." He shook his head, running a hand through his hair. "Us being alive, is a good thing, very good thing. Let's just call it a lucky break instead of a victory." He nodded his head when Lloyd said they had mermaids to talk to. The sooner they kept on their way, the better. And the faster he'd see Sen again, the more he could figure out a plan on his own to keep these two safe. "Let's just get going."

Caitlyn WallaceSen was gone. That had seemed almost too easy. He had let them off on their own. Caitlyn let out a sigh of relief, it wasn't a victory, but they had time to gather their strength. He wasn't going to leave them alone completely, he mentioned he will be watching, but they could cross that bridge as they needed. Caitlyn jumped when she realized Lloyd was looking over her concerned. He spoke something about her being alright.
Caitlyn was not alright. Sen spoke the words she knew wouldn't leave her mind or her ears easily. She knew that the day would come when both Lloyd and Alan would leave. Alan had his blatant dislike of Magic and Lloyd would grow bored. When it happened it would be a betrayal, but her own words echoed through her mind. She could not hurt them, she would not prove to the people of the world they were right. She would not abuse her gift in that manner. Even if it meant she would end up living a life alone. She gave a faint smile to Lloyd.
"Yeah, he did nothing that I can't handle."
They'll betray you.
That line could only echo in her mind. Caitlyn did not know why the thought of them betraying her scared her so. But the though had her mind racing. She had to see this through though. She had not give up hope on humanity. She felt Hubert huff in her mind. Even if Alan and Lloyd betrayed her she still had Millie and Hubert. She'd be hurt, sure, but it would be all the reason she needed to go and hide away from the world.
"Mermaids... yes... we should deal with one obstacle at a time." She responds.

Alan looked over at Caitlyn, she seemed to have something on her mind. Not that it was really any of his concern though. He had his own things to think about. They walked the little ways they had left to reach the shore. He looked around, no mermaids there. "So, not that I expected this to go so easily for us, but how do we reach out to the mermaids. It sure seems like they aren't just going to show themselves to us. Even if we have what they want." Alan looked at the others. He shrugged a bit, as he took a few steps into the water. He waited a moment or two and smirked a bit. "Well it seems like they are okay with us walking into their home uninvited."
Lloyd looked at Alan. "I'm not so sure that those few steps would even be considered as entering their home. Wouldn't it kind of be like walking into a city or something? You're at the entrance but not really in a home." He joined Alan in the water, but went a bit further. "Hey, mermaids! Any of you there? We got something that belongs to you! It's of important interest!" Lloyd shouted with his hands at the side of his mouth so his voice would carry further. "Come on, we're friends, I promise!"
"Do you know how creepy that sounds, Lloyd? To state that you are friends without ever meeting them?" Alan raised an eyebrow. Just then, he saw something in the distance and suddenly, Lloyd was pulled under the water. "Shit. I think they heard him." Alan backed out of the water as he scouted to see if he could find Lloyd. They weren't going to have a lot of time. Even if Lloyd had managed to take a big breath, it wasn't likely he could hold it for longer than two minutes unless he trained himself. Which that, Alan doubted. "Caitlyn, tell me you got some crazy magic you can use." It was't like he wanted Caitlyn to use magic, but it was the only chance they had right now to save Lloyd without being at just the mercy of the mermaids. "Let our friend go or you will never see what we have to offer you! We have your damn trident! It's yours for the taking, but we want our friend back and to talk with you! We don't mean you any harm!"
Lloyd finally reappeared before Caitlyn had to do any magic. He was laughing as he was catching his breath. A dolphin had helped Lloyd come back to the surface and he had found it amusing. He was alive and for the most part, unharmed. "I'm all right." He coughed as he made his way back to the shore, a bit winded still. "Dolphin helped me. I saw it though! I saw a mermaid! They're here, and listening to us." He grinned but then frowned. "Just not sure how we can really communicate though."
"You idiot! Is that all you can say!? We were worried about you!" Alan glared at Lloyd as he walked over to him, hitting him on the back of the head but not too hard. "Idiot." He repeated as he looked back out to the water, where four mermaids where watching them. "At least you got their attention..." Alan sighed as he tried to figure out what to do next. "Caitlyn, are you able to use some, ya know, magic to breathe under water? As of right now, I think you're the only one capable of doing this to get the next fragment." Alan kept his gaze on the mermaids. Part of him hoped that maybe this lead was wrong and they didn't have a fragment. That way he'd only end up giving Sen one fragment for the time being. He could just leave too at the first chance he got and tell Sen they couldn't get it. But, would that be enough for Sen to keep the promise of keeping them safe?

Caitlyn Wallace
She had let herself get distracted and didn't notice what Lloyd and Alan were doing till it was almost too late. Caitlyn felt her heart jump to her throat when Lloyd went under water. They were careless and she had been to distracted in her thoughts to realize what was happening. But she felt Undine's presence against her skin and Caitlyn was ready to act. She was about to summon the only creature she had that thought could help when Lloyd returned. She used her staff to hold her up, refusing to let her knees collapse under her. The two dummies just waltzed in on the mer-folk's domain. "Idiot is putting it lightly. What are both of you thinking just waltzing out in the water with out thinking first!"
She pushed her frustrations aside for now. "Sorry Alan, my magic does not incorporate the use of languages." She responded giving him a pointed look. "But give me a moment. I lost all train of thought when you and Lloyd decided to play. lemme think, I might be able to figure something out." In reality she had an idea already, but she was trying to think of the best option. Undine could help her, that she was positive, but she debated the risk of trying to have the Elemental cover all three of them. She glance at the two men with her and then at the water.
"Undine and I will go. I will take the trident to them and ask them to join us on shore so that we might be able to converse." she spoke holding out her hand for one of the men present to give her the object she referred. "I don't think holding the trident over them will be fair, we should give it as a token of good faith. Even still, it really does belong with them."
Sen's words continued to haunt Caitlyn. She sighed and closed her eyes. She focused on pushing them aside. She called Undine to her side to show them both that she was serious.

Alan pointed at Lloyd when Caitlyn asked what the two of them where thinking. "He was the one to just walk on in there, into the water. I didn't do nothing." Alan shrugged. He then smirked a bit as he listened to Caitlyn. She was trying to think of how to help, he could see that. "All right, well, take all the time you want." Alan walked over to an area and decided to set up came near the trees before the beach. "Might as well set up camp. Good place as any to rest up. Come on help me out here, Lloyd."
Lloyd gave a slightly annoyed look. "Come on guys, I was just trying to help." He sighed and shook his head. He felt bad for making the two of them worry. "I'm sorry, I really am. I didn't mean to make either of you worry. At least we figured out they are here, right?" He grinned a bit as he walked over to Alan to help him set up camp while they waited on Caitlyn. Lloyd looked at Caitlyn when she spoke up. "Huh woah, no you can't go alone. I mean well yea you have Undine, but...really, you're going to go alone?" Lloyd frowned. He didn't like the idea. "You saw what they almost did to me, right? I...I don't want the same to happen to you." He sighed. Surely there was something, anything he could do to help her. Though deep down he already knew the answer was no. That he couldn't go with her. He didn't have her power. He then nodded his head in agreement. "Yea that makes sense. It is their trident after all. All right. I guess you really are the best one for this job. Just...be careful, okay?" Lloyd walked over to Caitlyn and hugged her. "If you aren't back in four hours, I'm coming in after you. Don't know how but I am." He figured four hours should be enough for her to talk with whoever ruled the merfolk.
"Makes sense to me for you to go. Like Lloyd said, be careful." Alan looked at Caitlyn as he walked over to her. "We'll be waiting for you here. Figure out our next location to head to. I have no doubt that you'll come back to us, alive." Alan was already thinking something of his own. He wasn't going to wait on Caitlyn. Sure he would only fulfill half of his promise to Sen with the Earth fragment, but perhaps in the end it would be okay. He had to try. Plus, he would be able to sneak off with Caitlyn gone. Lloyd would be too busy worrying about Caitlyn. "Here," Alan grabbed the trident and handed it to Caitlyn. "Let them know it was a pain in the ass to get back for them." He smirked a bit.
